Job DescriptionThe California Prison Industry Authority is currently looking for an Attorney III in the Central Office located in Folsom, CA. Under general direction of the Chief Counsel I, CEA, the incumbent will be assigned the most difficult and complex legal issues; serve as the lead attorney; operate under minimal supervision; exercise broad discretion and independently apply all aspects of laws and regulations related to administrative hearings, civil litigation, OSHA appeals, and state contracting. Must develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with clients, colleagues, public, and stakeholders as well as act with a high ethical standard.
This position offers hybrid telework options, FREE parking, and is located near Folsom Lake and Historic Downtown Folsom, close to walking trails, shopping and eateries.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Five years of legal experience in the practice of law*.
Legal experience in the "practice of law" is defined as:
(1) only that legal experience acquired after admission to any State Bar, or
(2) experience as a judicial clerk for a federal court, California's state courts, or any other state's courts, or
(3) legal experience acquired while practicing under a provisional license to practice law issued by the State Bar of California's Provisional Licensure Program, to constitute experience in the practice of law. For an individual's judicial clerkship to qualify as "legal experience in the practice of law, the experience must have been gained after receipt of a Juris Doctor or equivalent degree.
