Our Gateway firewall product provides security and control when connecting to WANs.

Our NGFW product is built upon VCF as a value added comprehensive security service, with its own revenue stream.

    NGFW software development is done by a small focused team driven by creating compelling customer value in security. We are motivated by the challenge of increasing our market leadership position through continuous innovation and execution. The team is broadly split into data plane, control plane, management plane and cloud services.

    This opportunity is in the data and control plane area.

    Job Description


    We are seeking a data plane security and control plane development engineer with a passion for complex and distributed computing environment to join our NGFW development team.

    You will work as part of a team that develops security products and features for virtualized and cloud environments, with a focus on optimizing system performance, latency and minimizing system resource usage.


    Responsibilities:

    Responsible for designing, developing and delivering high quality industry leading NGFW security software features and services, on an aggressive timelineEmphasize on quality: execution with corner cases considered, unit tests, automation, code coverage analysis and debug supportDesign complex distributed architectures, influence to get them adopted by peer group, then work with management to get it implementedInfluence and coordinate with other development, testing and deployment teams to get feature complete and seamlessly interworkingProactively analyze risks with existing initiatives.

    Come up with mitigation plans and address them timelyContinuously review the product and code for optimizations and scale, latency and performance improvementsDocument architectures, procedures, and processes and contribute to improvement of the process.

    Help with customer facing documentation.
    Apply creative development methodologies and design to further improve quality of products.

    Mentor junior employeesEffectively communicate dependencies, issues and concerns of implementations timely, and proactively help to unblockAdept in Agile methodology for effective execution without losing focus on product delivery and release milestonesRequirements:


    A Bachelors degree in Computer Science/Electrical Engineering with 12+ years related experience OR Master's degree in Computer Science/Electrical Engineering and 10+ years related experience.

    Experience as an Engineer who has successfully worked in the area of data path packet flow, control path. Kernel development is a plusProficient in C++ and C.

    Knowledge of Java, Python, Go is a plusExperience in internet stack, such as Ethernet, IP, TCP, UDP, ICMP, L7Experience in kernel IO and driver subsystemsStrong demonstrated analytical, problem solving and debugging skillsDeep interest in internet technology and security concepts with emphasis on the firewall architectures and implementation.

    Interest in virtualization conceptsUnderstanding of distributed systems developmentStrong software development skills, understanding of software development methodologyExperience with open source preferredUnderstanding of database concepts preferredExcellent social and communications skills, be able to interact well with developers internally as well as with partner companies to influence and drive outcomes

    Job Description:

    Compensation and Benefits

    The annual base salary range for this position is $126,000 - $210,000.


    This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus in accordance with relevant plan documents, and equity in accordance with equity plan documents and equity award agreements.
