    Description

    Job Summary:

    The Assistant Hyperbaric Safety Officer delivers professional hyperbaric care to patients, families, and the community by collaborating with licensed staff to plan and implement patient care. They work closely with unit leadership and Safety Officers to assess, maintain, and document the hyperbaric safety program to ensure successful accreditation cycles.

    This role exemplifies the Upstate mission, vision, and values, adhering to Upstate policies and procedures. Responsibilities include developing, implementing, and maintaining policies, procedures, and trainings in support of the Hyperbaric Safety Program. The Assistant Hyperbaric Safety Officer acts on behalf of the Hyperbaric Safety Officer when unavailable, assists with activities supporting patients receiving hyperbaric treatment, and maintains operational records for all hyperbaric program equipment.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Maintain operational records for hyperbaric program equipment
    • Troubleshoot equipment issues and remove chambers from service if unsafe
    • Assist in scheduling preventative maintenance & calibration
    • Conduct hyperbaric safety in-service trainings

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree and 3 years of hyperbaric related experience or Associate's degree and 5 years of hyperbaric related experience required
    • Certified Hyperbaric Technician (CHT) or Certified Hyperbaric Registered Nurse (CHRN) certification required
    • Current CPR-BLS and CPR-ACLS certification required by time of appointment

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Current Paramedic certification or other CHT qualifying pathway certification/license preferred
    • Hyperbaric Safety Officer training and experience preferred
