    Job DescriptionAbout this role

    Responsible for the overall management, supervision, fiscal accountability and training for all Student Support Services Veterans project activities and personnel, and adherence to Federal, state, TRIO and PBSC regulations policies and guidelines. Serves as spokesperson on programs and services provided to agencies or community leaders. Maintains information on program outcomes, creates program reports, and serves as the liaison to State and other related program entities. Works with subject matter experts and promotes the benefits of the programs. Identifies and supervises staff, administers budget. This is a grant funded position. Continued employment is contingent upon grant funding.

    What a day of a Veteran's Program Grant Director looks like:

    • Manages the activities of one or more staff. Performs needs analysis to arrange, coordinate, deliver, evaluate, and monitor staff development.
    • Guides staff to provide responsive professional assistance to students, encouraging and supporting a student focused environment.
    • Acts as a College liaison for programs and services with outside agencies or community leaders. Communicates with targeted school personnel regarding the program, and maintains data on program participants.
    • Participates in various meetings and committees. Travels to meetings, seminars and conferences outside of college locations.
    • Monitors or reviews grants and contracts for restricted programs. Administers any policies, procedures, and restrictions imposed by the grant or contracts.
    • Administers federal, state, or local scholarships, loans or grant programs. Prepares status and final reports for funding agencies or industry.
    • Monitors project expenditure and revenue patterns and adjusts the budget as needed.
    • Develops short-term and long-range goals, objectives, priorities, and recommendations.
    • Remains up to date with the most current research and information regarding best practices for enabling academic, personal and career success for student veterans.
    • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

    We'd love to hear from you if you have the following:

    Education and Experience:

    • Master's degree in Education, Human Services or related field of study
    • Two years of related experience, to include supervisory experience
    • Experience in designing, managing, or implementing Student Support Services or similar projects

    Knowledge of:

    • Microsoft Office Professional or similar application

    Skilled in:

    • Providing appropriate audit responses
    • Delivering a high level of customer service
    • Managing and resolving conflict in a positive manner

    Ability to:

    • Interact in a positive manner with diverse populations and varying education levels of students, faculty, staff, and the public
    • Effectively communicate verbally and in writing on a regular basis with internal and external customers, build relationships, manage customer expectations and take responsibility for a high level of service
    • Work an alternate environment based on program or college need
    • Accurately manage a budget

    Licenses, Registration, Certifications, or Special Requirements:

    • Regular physical attendance required
    • Must demonstrate commitment and sensitivity for addressing the needs of economically and educationally disadvantaged youth; or have experience as a participant or employee with TRIO or other educational opportunity programs

    Preferred, but not a must:

    Education and Experience:

    • Experience working with a veteran population
    • Veteran status

    Licenses, Registration, Certifications, or Special Requirements:

    • Preference is given to applicants who have backgrounds or experience as low-income, first-generation or disabled students, and have succeeded in overcoming barriers similar to those confronting the SSS project's target population

    The minimum base pay range for this position starts at $55, $60,728.80 annually; however, the offer may vary based on the candidate's education and experience.
