    Description
    Basic Function

    Perform systematic approach in troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining and installing various types of HVACR, electrical and digital control systems. Respond to problems related to environmental concerns across campus. Openly review and discuss solutions with co-workers and ensure a safe, comfortable, energy efficient environment for the campus community.

    Essential Job Functions


    • Maintain a wide variety of heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems. Including steam, hot water, chilled water, DX and gas-fired equipment.
    • Troubleshoot and repair a wide range of HVAC systems and components including: chillers, boilers and digital control systems.
    • Determine corrective action/solution to equipment and systems.
    • Directly work with students, faculty and staff experiencing environmental control problems.
    • Operate and adjust control systems including accessing information from a central digital control system.
    • Repair and maintain refrigeration equipment in accordance with EPA standards. Track and maintain detailed refrigerant records.
    • Test hydronic system water quality and adjust chemicals.
    • Follow industry and University safety procedures and use/wear PPE in accordance with the job task being performed. Maintain a safe work environment for coworkers and the campus community.
    • Maintain awareness of industry trends and stay current on government regulations and protocol. Performs other duties as assigned.
    Minimum Qualifications

    High school diploma or equivalent. Universal refrigeration license from EPA. Minimum 5 years experience working with HVACR. Knowledge of the OBC and ASHRAE standards. Proficient trouble-shooting skills with ability to read and interpret plans and specifications.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Vocational training or apprenticeship in HVACR. Experience working with a wide variety of HVACR systems.
