    Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB) Credit Risk Portfolio Management, within the Credit Risk Area in Second Line of Defense, is a critical component of the Risk Management function in Santander group in the USA, responsible for the monitoring of the CIB's credit portfolio. The area performs ongoing analysis of the portfolio and models for the management, Local and Head Office. Identify and anticipate deviations and alerts in the Risk Appetite, Management Limits, Underwriting Standards, Credit Losses, and Strategic Business Plans. The scope of the portfolio is +$80Bn in credit exposure, in public and private companies, investment and non-investment grade of the Corporate, Financial Institutions and Structured Finance credits.

    The successful candidate must demonstrate strong background in technology, data analytics, software development, and programming languages such as R, Python and SQL, with expertise in Business Intelligence tools (Shiny, Tableau, PowerBi). Will lead initiatives to enhance processes and infrastructure, leading the implementation of data science initiatives, applying expertise in develop monitoring reports, dashboards, and predictive models to enhance risk assessment capabilities.

    Responsibilities:

    • Design and produce regular and time-sensitive ad-hoc deliverables portfolio analysis to be presented in Local and Head Office forums, with critical weekly and monthly deliverables. The analysis includes exposure and credit quality concentrations and trends, rating migration, new originations, risk mitigation strategies, exceptions to Underwriting Standards, credit losses forecast, credit alerts and sentiment analysis.
    • Develop and maintain automated reporting systems and dashboards using Business Intelligence tools like Shiny, Tableau, PowerBi to visualize key risk metrics.
    • Building robust, systematic & efficient workflows, processes, and procedures around the production of risk analytics for credit risks in partnership with stakeholders in Risk Management, Data Analytics, Finance, and IT.
    • Develop applications to support the broader goals of the portfolio management function.
    • Attesting the quality, timeliness and completeness of the underlying data used to produce analytics. Ensure that required governance and controls are in place. Collaborates with technology/infrastructure staff to identify data relationships and functional requirements.
    • Lead local implementation of global projects related to enhancements of data used for monitoring and development of rating and loss models in global repositories.

    Qualifications:

    • Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, Econometrics, Computer science or Engineering, Business / Economics. MBA, FRM or CFA charter holder is a plus.
    • 5-10 years of experience in areas related to credit risk reporting and data analytics in financial institutions or consulting.
    • Hands on experience with programming for extract transform operations and data analysis using languages such as, but not limited to R, Python, SQL, and Excel VBA. Experience in developing data visualization and business intelligence solutions using tools such as, but not limited to, Shiny, Tableau, PowerBI, and front-end technologies and languages.
    • Requires good analytical skills in order to filter, prioritize and validate potentially complex and dynamic material from multiple sources.
    • Strong communication and diplomacy skills are required.

    Working Conditions: Frequent Minimal physical effort such as sitting, standing and walking.     For NYC Job Applicants: The base annual salary range for this position is $117,000-$155,000. The exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, training, licensure and certifications and location.
