    The Wellspring Schools, a nurturing and supportive Islamic educational institution, is seeking a dynamic and experienced Assistant Principal who will serve as the Director of Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK). The successful candidate will oversee the UPK program, and manage essential operational aspects of our broader school environment, ensuring a safe, engaging, and enriching learning environment for our youngest learners. This leadership role is crucial in shaping the foundational years of education in alignment with both our educational philosophy and the regulatory standards of New York State's UPK initiatives.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Oversee the daily operations, planning, and administration of the UPK program.
    • Develop and implement high-quality, developmentally appropriate curriculum and activities in line with educational standards and our school's ethos.
    • Supervise UPK staff, fostering a collaborative and professional environment.
    • Ensure compliance with state and local regulations concerning early childhood education.
    • Assist the Principal in their job functions to ensure optimal support and coordination across school activities.
    • Manage the UPK budget, resources, and materials efficiently.
    • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the program and staff performances, implementing improvements as necessary.
    • Support the integration of Islamic values and teachings into the curriculum and daily activities.
    • Ensure a safe, respectful, and nurturing environment for all children.
    • Manage the school's lunch program, bus transportation, and ensure smooth operation of events such as graduations, parent-teacher conferences, and dismissals.
    • Oversee overall compliance and potentially manage the daycare program.

    Perform other related duties and tasks as necessary or as assigned.

    Qualifications:

    • Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education.
    • Valid New York State Teaching Certification in Early Childhood Education.
    • Minimum of five years of experience in early childhood education, with at least two years in a leadership or administrative role.
    • Strong understanding of the developmental milestones and needs of preschool-aged children.
    • Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
    • Ability to foster a collaborative and inclusive environment in line with Islamic values.
    • Proven ability to assist and support senior educational leadership in a variety of operational and strategic contexts.
