    SUMMARY

    Customs Border Patrol (CBP) has a global presence with connectivity to approximately 1300 field sites as well as Other Government Agencies (OGAs) and trade partners.

    CBP conducts operations in 22 countries, 328 ports of entry, 129 border patrol stations within 22 sectors, and 75 AMO locations.

    To support its mission, CBP needs a robust, resilient, and high performing enterprise network and supporting services throughout its global footprint.

    The Network Services Division within the Office of Information and Technology (OIT) Enterprise Infrastructure and Operations Directorate (EIOD) provides network services and oversight of the CBP enterprise network infrastructure and comprises the Network Architecture and Engineering Division (NAED) and Network Operations Division (NOD).

    Working with an enterprise network architecture and engineering team supporting our Federal customer, the Cloud Architect interfaces with customers to determine technical requirements, feasibility and expectations and strategizes with the client to develop solutions based on a variety of criteria including a clear description of services, functionality, scalability, future proofing, and cost.

    The Cloud Architect is responsible for designing cloud-based solutions using cloud computing architectural procedures that typically consists of a front-end platform, back end platforms, cloud-based delivery, and a network.

    Responsible for the support of the development of the Technical Requirements Document and a Detailed Design Document (DDD) for the Cloud Connectivity Architecture, consistent with the associated Functional Requirements Document and DDD, before transitioning to Operations.

    Responsibility includes designing and communicating compelling solutions that urge prospects to take the desired action and implementing cloud computing architecture solutions that address cloud security and compliance fundamentals, deployment automation and elastic sizing of environments, and multi-tenant implications.

    Additionally, the Cloud Architect will manage the implementation of the cloud to ensure a successful deployment.

    JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    Build Secure Cloud Interconnect (SCI), Netbond, Direct Connect and VPN connections.
    Lead Migration from legacy on-prem networking to the Cloud Networking.
    Provide expert guidance in one or more Cloud Infrastructure (IaaS) offerings and be comfortable discussing solutions with clients.
    Design and implement multi-tier architecture solution that is highly available and fault tolerant using Cloud platform services.

    Design and implement effective cloud computing solutions that take into account an organization's structure, communications, and operational business processes, including financial management and cost model implications.

    Manage the process of migrating and transition to a cloud environment.

    Analyze current workloads, migrate existing IT systems to the cloud, an configure new systems or services to enhance business operations.


    QUALIFICATIONS
    Required Certifications
    Eligibility/Clearance - Must be a U.S. Citizen.

    Clearance Preference:
    CBP Full BI - 1st priority
    Any DHS badge + DoD Top Secret or Secret - 2nd choice
    DoD Secret or Top Secret + willingness to get CBP clearance - 3rd choice (it can take 45 days to 6 months to obtain a CBP clearance – work can only begin once the clearance is fully adjudicated)
    Education, Background, and Years of Experience
    Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT Systems, or other related discipline.

    At least 4 years of hands-on experience in Network Design, Network Engineering, Network Operational Support and Cloud engineering experience of Medium to Large enterprise network environments.

    Education requirement may be substituted with an additional 4 years of relevant experience.

    QUALIFICATIONS
    Required Skills
    Programming and scripting experience in programming languages like C#, Python, Java, or JavaScript
    Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) Public and Private Cloud
    Experience with Azure Cloud
    Experience with Google Cloud
    Experience with Cloud Service Routers (CSRv)
    Experience performing requirements gathering with a prospective customer and tailoring a custom product and solution.
    Experience with Cloud Identity and Access Management
    Experience migrating from legacy on-prem networking to the Cloud Networking

    Thorough understanding of Cloud Computing:
    virtualization technologies, Infrastructure as a Service, Platform as a Service and Software as a Service Cloud delivery models and the current competitive landscape

    Thorough understanding of infrastructure (firewalls, load balancers, hypervisor, storage, monitoring, security, etc.) and have experience with orchestration to develop a cloud solution.

    A data-driven critical thinking mind, analytical expertise, and a solution-driven, service-oriented personality.
    A knack for working in a similar fast-paced, high-SLA, deadline driven environment.
    Must be able to work with minimal supervision and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.

    AWS - Networking and/or Security Specialty, Solutions Architect Associate or Professional
