    Manager, Global Trade Compliance

    This role will give you the opportunity to be part of the ASM Global Trade Compliance team, that has the responsibility to ensure that ASM global businesses are conducted in compliance with the various international export control laws and regulations, sanctions and customs regulations. You will play a hands-on part in developing the trade compliance program, policies and procedures, and provide trade compliance guidance and trainings to increase the compliance awareness within the organization. In this role, you will report to the Global Trade Compliance Senior Director. This role falls under the Legal department

    Responsibilities:

    Strategy & Roadmap

    Assess, update and execute the global trade compliance program for one of the worlds

    leading wafer production equipment suppliers

    Work closely with engineering teams to classify items such as hardware, technology and

    software from export control, determine the applicable export control jurisdiction(s).

    Contribute to the implementation of the global strategy for Sanction & Export Controls; co-

    develop supporting policies and procedures

    Track and monitor the U.S., European Union, Italian and other international trade compliance

    regulations updates and changes relevant to ASM

    Support in investigations, audits and risk- assessments of export control, sanctions and

    program functions, root cause analysis on deficiencies, and the development and management

    of resulting corrective action plans and appropriate policies and procedures

    Cooperate and Collaborate:

    Classify items for export control classification number ECCN;

    Work cooperatively and proactively with the various functions to ensure compliance with all

    relevant export, customs, sanctions, laws and regulations

    Establish a strong relationship with the ASM employees to ensure cooperation and assistance

    in the successful implantation of export control related projects

    Develop and educate internal clients on trade compliance best practices.

    Policy adherence and compliance management:

    Maintain and improve internal compliance plans for our entity in Italy

    Execute and monitor the export controls necessary to ensure compliance

    Ensure the prioritization of business-critical trade compliance infrastructure and resources as

    part of the broader program requirements (e.g. screening, training programs, audits, internal

    risk assessments, variations and classifications)

    Participate in reviews of export control related incidents

    Implementation of policies and procedures to safeguard compliance with ASMs Global

    Sanctions & Export Control Strategy

    Oversee the application of export control, trade compliance regulatory actions on complex

    business operations to ensure compliance

    Provide advice on export control risks and controls/measures. If required work closely with

    external advisors.

    Education and Experience

    Bachelor or masters degree or equivalent experience in trade compliance / export controls.

    6+ years of trade compliance experience working in multinational exporting corporations or

    organizations (including experience building and leading a global team) preferably in the high-

    tech or semiconductor Industry and/or at a company with a US parent company.

    Subject matter expertise of US Export Administration Regulation (EAR) is a must have. The

    candidate must have an in-depth and advanced knowledge of the EAR.

    Knowledge on the EAR latest rules on China such as MEU, MIEU, etc. is required.

    Experience on ECCN classification is required.

    Result-driven, impeccable time management skills, able to demonstrate hands-on ownership

    and accountability

    Strong analytical skills, able to translate complex business issues into simple problem

    statements as well as clear processes and actions

    Exceptional standards of integrity and ethic, which act as the basis for strong stakeholder

    relationships

    Able to balance a curious and strategic mindset for influencing change on trade and export

    controls

    Must be very hands on and operationally focused.
