**Job Title:** Financial Analyst

Job Summary:

This role involves reviewing financial statements and footnotes, including cash flow statements. The successful candidate will review and approve work papers and financial statements for defined contribution and defined benefit pension plans offered to employees. Coordination of the audit of pension statements with an outside audit firm contracted is also a key responsibility.

Responsibilities:

Manage the timely and accurate preparation of all internal and external financial reports.

Interact with departments within the company and outside to collect supporting schedules and follow up with external auditors.

Direct the development and preparation of the financial section of the Annual Report, including management's discussion and analysis.

Assist in overseeing the preparation of work papers and financial statements for defined contribution and defined benefit pension plans.

Coordinate the audit of pension statements with the outside audit firm contracted.

Review year-end workpapers for statement of net position, changes in statement of net position, and cash flow statement for annual report.

Follow up with auditors for supporting schedules.

Compile and prepare "Notes to Consolidated Financial Statements" in the NJ TRANSIT annual report.

Ensure that all footnotes are supported by appropriate work papers and agree to published financial statement figures.

Assist with proofreading of the annual report.

Conduct special research and prepare unique presentations for upper management as required.

Prepare indirect cost rates to obtain FTA approval.

Research federal super circular and OMB new rules and regulations.

Communicate with independent auditors for justifications.

Perform assigned duties during the monthly close, including journal entries and analysis, processing transactions, and research into significant budget variances.

Requirements:

Baccalaureate degree in accounting.

6 years of experience in financial statement and footnote preparation.

Knowledge of GAAP, GAAS, and applicable GASB rules.

CPA firm experience preferred.

Proficiency in computerized financial systems and Oracle General Ledger systems.

Proficiency in general PC and office software applications, including Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint.

Estimated Salary Range:
