    This role is responsible for the procurement of materials, supplies, equipment, and services consistent with the quality, quantity, and cost requirements for Apogee Corporate.

    These functions include; Placing purchase orders, confirming order acknowledgments, setting up new parts within our S2P program, identifying and expediting backorders with our vendor community, sourcing indirect spend, and the ability to communicate throughout multiple organizational levels.

    This position will develop strong cross functional working relationships while executing value driven projects and implementing best practices.
    This role will report to the Director of Procurement Operations and will manage buying for Apogee corporate. The Commodity Specialist will also support the central category teams with sourcing activities.


    Key Responsibilities:
    Accountable for acknowledging daily purchase order confirmations from our vendor partners and sharing any discrepancies with the appropriate buyer and buyer/planner
    Responsible for part item data creation and supplier enablement in our S2P program
    Monitor metrics at Apogee and across BUs to ensure compliance to the S2P program

    Supporting category team and indirect sourcing projects driving value to the organization through productivity savings, working capital, and efficiency improvements.

    Assure that the purchase orders created are delivered on schedule.

    This will be done through monitoring open order reports, working with the vendors to confirm ship dates, updating the internal system to assure its accuracy.

    . Identifies and resolves problems with suppliers related to inventory, invoicing and credits.

    Education and Skills Required:
    Greater than 8 years of experiences in procurement or comparable integrated supply chain roles
    Must have strong organizational and data-entry skills with the ability to multi-task and meet on-going deadlines
    The ability to communicate effectively in a written and verbal manner to individuals and groups throughout all organizational levels
    Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) with an understanding of ERP/MRP system processes
    Service oriented, with a sense of persistence and tolerance, while working with our outside vendor partners and internal work groups
    CPM and/or APICS certification a plus
    Demonstrated knowledge and extensive e xperience developing and executing buying/category strategies, supplier negotiations and supplier management

    Additional Qualifications:
    Strong communication and leadership skills
    Greater than 2 years Sourcing & Category Management experience
    Ability to work comfortably in a matrixed organizational environment
    Excellent teaming abilities
    Demonstrated strategic planning and execution
    Ability to influence others and lead teams
    Demonstrated background of building collaborative relationships
    Strong data analytics and presentation skills
    Strong interpersonal and communication skills with positive persuasive attitude
