- Support a racially and culturally diverse student population across languages, identities, socioeconomic levels, and educational backgrounds.
- Provide inclusive, culturally responsive academic and professional wrap?around support, including study habits, work experience, transfer preparation, financial aid assistance, and referrals to services.
- Maintain records of services (e.g., assessments, placement scores, financial aid, educational plans, progress reports, instructor contacts, grades).
- Monitor student progress toward degree/certificate requirements and intervene when necessary.
- Offer confidential one?on?one advising and educational planning for course selection and individualized goals.
- Provide electronic and in?person support for applicant questions, admissions materials, and application reviews.
- Assist students with financial aid applications and financial literacy training.
- Coordinate enrollment with the Registrar, Workforce staff, community partners, and Financial Aid for new clinical and didactic students.
- Develop, coordinate, and implement student orientations, summer bridge, and supervisor orientations.
- Lead outreach efforts (information sessions, community partner contacts).
- Stay current with licensure and certification requirements in Washington State.
- Collaborate with faculty, program directors, and external partners to align curriculum with workforce and community needs.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support the HHS division.
- Education: Masters degree in a healthcare or human service field with five years of education experience, or equivalent education/experience.
- Partnerships: Ability to work cooperatively with students, faculty, staff, and stakeholders to create a positive learning environment.
- Organization Skills: Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a self?guided environment.
- Communication: Ability to communicate effectively with students, faculty, and staff, supporting Seattle Colleges goal of student success.

Student Support Specialist - Healthcare and Human Services (2 positions Project Employment)
Position Summary
Under the supervision of the Executive Dean of the Healthcare & Human Services Division, the Student Support Specialist works closely with students enrolled in either the clinical or didactic HHS programs. The role focuses on guiding students from entry through completion, ensuring alignment with licensure, certification, accreditation requirements, institutional policies, procedures, and community standards. Responsibilities include academic career planning, resource referrals, and navigating curriculum and credentialing expectations.
Employment is as a Project Employee with grant?funded, time?limited tenure. The expected end date will be provided upon appointment. Positions are full?time (40 hours per week, MondayFriday, 8:30?am4:30?pm, hybrid remote/on?site). The role is governed by a collective bargaining agreement with WFSE representation.
Salary
Annual range: $61,512 $80,820 (based on experience).
