    The College seeks a full-time, tenure-track faculty member in Counseling.

    The duties of this counselor will cover the full range of general counseling responsibilities including academic, career, and personal counseling with both individuals and groups and teaching discipline-specific courses.

    Provide comprehensive in-person and online counseling services to students, including academic, career, and personal counseling on a drop-in and appointment basis
    Provide transfer application support and assist students with waitlist/denial notices and transfer appeals
    Serve as transfer lead for the Counseling Division and assist with transfer-related training
    Develop comprehensive educational plans for graduation and transfer, based on student's academic needs
    Monitor student performance and progress, including transfer and retention, and maintain appropriate documentation and records
    Collaborate and consult with the Transfer Center, Counseling Division, and Admissions & Records staff and faculty to support ongoing training, program development and program management
    Collaborate with instructional and counseling faculty and staff to assist students in accessing, understanding and utilizing counseling services, college success services, and transfer resources
    Collaborate with faculty and staff in special programs to maximize student transfer success and equitable outcomes
    Perform other duties as required by contract, collective bargaining agreement, and general institutional needs
    Participate in pre-collegiate outreach and in-reach activities that promote transfer awareness for all students
    Master's or above in counseling, rehabilitation counseling, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, guidance counseling, educational counseling, social work, career development, marriage and family therapy, or marriage, family and child counseling OR the equivalent (see below) (


    NOTE :

    A Bachelor's degree in one of the listed degrees and a license as a Marriage and Family Therapist ( MFT ) is an alternative qualification for this discipline.)


    Minimum of one (1) year of experience providing transfer counseling to community college students
    Demonstrated cultural competence, sensitivity to, and understanding of the diverse academic,socioeconomic, ethnic, neurodivergent, and LGBTQIA+ backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff as these factors relate to the need for equity minded-practice both within and outside of the classroom

    The applicant must have completed at least 24 semester units of coursework in the academic field and must possess at least the equivalent level of achievement and the equivalent in breadth, depth of understanding, and rigor in each of the following:
    i) a broad cultural education usually met by the general education requirements for any Bachelor's or Associate's Degree, and

    The applicant must have completed the General Education requirements for that degree and show evidence of outstanding professional achievement and/or substantial training in the requested field.

    The applicant must submit substantial evidence, which demonstrates that his/her preparation, teaching experience, work experience, and ability are equivalent to those expected from a person who meets the minimum qualifications.

    Experience in developing comprehensive student educational plans (SEPs) for graduation and transfer, based on students' academic goals
    Knowledge of legislative policies that impact transfer and articulation
    Comprehensive knowledge and experience applying state-wide college and university transfer admissions requirements, articulation agreements, policies, and procedures for counseling community college students
    Experience in the development, coordination, and implementation of comprehensive counseling services and programs
    Knowledge of counseling and student development theories and relevant applications to program development
    Familiarity with program performance evaluation
    Experience in the development of workshops and training for students, faculty, and classified professionals
    Experience in teaching classes and workshops related to academic, transfer, and career counseling
    Recent experience working with racially minoritized and other disproportionately-impacted students in the classroom and an understanding of how historical patterns of exclusion of these groups within higher education and particular fields shape patterns of participation and outcomes
