    Van Metre is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to directly support our Controller to oversee our New Homes Accounting team.

    The ideal candidate will have experience as an accountant in our industry, preferably in a senior role. As a strong communicator and skilled accountant, this person will streamline our operational processes and financial reporting processes.

    The Accounting Manager will support the Controller in ensuring accurate, timely financial reporting as well as the growth and development of the team to help improve our operational efficiency and aid in our continued growth.


    Objectives of this role:


    Ensure day-to-day Accounting transactions are being processed timely and accuratelyOversee financial statement preparation, reconciliations, financial transactions for draws, cash management, etc.

    Support all aspects of month-end close and financial reportingFacilitate the consolidation of hundreds of entities financial statementsEnsure accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and relevant regulationsDevelop, implement, and maintain financial controls and guidelinesMaximize efficiency through innovative process development across all areas of the departmentProvide comprehensive financial updates to senior managers by evaluating, analyzing, and reporting appropriate data pointsGuide financial decisions by applying company policies and procedures to current economic landscapeAchieve budgeting goals with proper scheduling, analysis, and corrective actionsHelp develop and support short- and long-term operational strategiesThis is a hybrid role, with two days/week spent working in our Fairfax Corporate office.


    Responsibilities:


    Administer accounting and finance including enforcing operating policies and proceduresMaintain internal controls for revenue receipts, costs, and team and organizational budgets and actual expendituresSupport Controller's direction for financial and operating benchmarks, budgets, program monitoring, and reporting standards on biweekly, monthly, and annual basisImplement consistent accounting policies, practices, and procedures across all programs, adhering to national and local legal standards while remaining knowledgeable of proposed legislationDevelop and enforce internal controls to maximize protection of company assets, policies, procedures, and workflowsMonitor and balance cash flows into and out of various entities to meet business obligations and manage owner's equityFacilitate debt management, ensuring draws are submitted timely to banks to maintain company's cash position and policiesPreparing external financial statements and reporting for investorsDevelop, oversee and support accounting team with dynamic leadership that creates an environment of trust and productivityRequired Skills and Qualifications:Experience in managing individual contributors, with focus on streamlining accounting processesExemplary history of financial project managementAdvanced excel skillsExcellent written and oral skillsAttention to detail and ability to multi-task is imperativeExhibit solid judgement; take initiativePreferred Skills and Qualifications:Public accounting experience preferredCPA highly preferred7+ years of experience preferredBachelor's Degree in Accounting or equivalentDetail and service orientedA self-starter and team player with the ability to effectively communicate at all levels of the organizationStrong written and oral communication skillsVan Metre Companies has been named a Top Workplace by the Washington Post for seven consecutive years We have received the Washington Business Journal's Best Places to Work Award for the last six years, and have received their Corporate Philanthropy Award for the last nine years in a rowWe offer excellent benefits, and a work environment that fosters and rewards excellence.
