    JOB SUMMARY:

    Under the general supervision of a pathologist, independently performs or assists in the dissection, description, and histologic sampling of a full range of surgical specimens.

    We are seeking a part-time (weekends only) Pathologists' Assistant to join our group of seven PAs. Clin-Path Associates, PLC, is Arizona's largest private pathology practice including 31 board-certified pathologists, 7 pathologists' assistants, and an independently owned, CAP-accredited anatomic pathology laboratory. Our group services the greater Phoenix area and East Valley and includes coverage at an MD Anderson-affiliated hospital. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated, detail-oriented, and independent pathologist's assistant with a strong work ethic to join our team. They will be working Saturdays at our Pathologist-owned laboratory in Tempe, AZ and Sundays at Banner Hospital in Mesa.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    1. Performs and/or assists pathologists in the dissection, description, and histologic sampling of a full range of anatomical specimens.
    2. Performs frozen sections and other intra-operative consultations, within the established protocol and procedural parameters.
    3. Coordinates the acquisition of tissue specimens used for research purposes.
    4. Maintains digital files, ensuring a high standard of specimen photography.
    5. May review, interpret, and present findings.
    6. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

    PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS, ENVIRONMENT:

    1. Must be able to lift 20 lbs.
    2. Must understand and be able to adhere to biohazardous specimen handling

    requirements.

    1. Must undergo blood-borne pathogens and hazardous waste training.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    1. Bachelor's degree from an accredited Pathologist Assistant program or in a medical or scientific field.
    2. At least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. (Preferred)
    3. ASCP-certified (Preferred)
    4. 2-3 years experience in a laboratory.
    5. Ability to self-direct.
