Job Description:Description: Under limited supervision, performs work related to hardware and software support, network support, systems administration, research, procurement, developing and delivering training materials.
This is a fulltime position with a work requirement of 40 onsite hours per week.The person in this position will be a member of the Nebraska Library Commission's (NLC) Computer Team and work with other NLC staff.
Work assignments may also include collaboration with the Nebraska's Regional Library Systems and with staff at Nebraska libraries.Responsibilities:
This position provides hardware and software support for the Nebraska Library Commission
Duties include:
Responding, in a timely manner, to emails and phone calls from NLC staff, and, sometimes, staff from libraries throughout the state, requesting assistance with problems and issues involving hardware, software, and connectivityAssisting staff in identifying hardware and software needsPlanning and overseeing software installation and configurationTraining staff on use of hardware and softwareTracking and managing software updatesManaging hardware/software inventoryWorking with other staff to monitor, manage, and troubleshoot website issuesMonitoring website content, and facilitating corrections, changes and updates as neededCreating web pages, including interactive web formsCreating, monitoring, and updating documentation related to hardware, software, and infrastructureCreating and updating training materials for staffProviding technical support for the agency's library automation systemOther duties as assignedRequirements/ Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate degree in computer science and two years of related technical and business experience. Two years of related technical and business experience may substitute for the required education on a year-foryear basis. OR Post high school coursework in computer science and three years of related technical and business experience.
Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills Required:
Ability to communicate, with other staff and clientele, in an effective and friendly manner (electronically, over the phone, and in person)
Ability to multitask and triage job demandsKnowledge of Microsoft workstation and server operating systemsFamiliarity with common software utilities, protocols, and services needed to troubleshoot, manage and maintain computer systemsKnowledge of basic networking technology and terminology.
Help desk experience is desirable.
