Valley Health System in affiliation with the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai is actively recruiting an Internal Medicine Residency Clinic Medical Director.

Valley Health System (VHS) in affiliation with the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai (ISMMS) is actively recruiting an Internal Medicine Residency Clinic Medical Director for the newly accredited Internal Medicine Residency Program.

This position presents the opportunity to collaborate with the Program Director, Associate Program Director and the GME team to design, develop and operate a new training program to begin in July 2024.

The incumbent will also be the clinic director for the IM continuity clinic.

In addition to excellent clinical and leadership skills, the ideal candidate will have a proven track record of academic excellence and be knowledgeable of ACGME policies and procedures.

Position Summary:

This position presents the opportunity to design, develop and operate a new training program as well as maintain a clinical practice at VHS.

Assists the PD and APD/DAC to develop and execute a successful Residency Program Curriculum (the APD may chair the Program's Curriculum Committee) and/or Clinical Competency Committee (CCC).Assists the APD/DAC in the educational and administrative tasks related to the Outpatient Center.

Provides the vision and leadership to guide the inception of resident Ambulatory Care services with integrated resident Ambulatory education.

The Director position will have primary responsibility for the delivery of clinical services including clinical cost management, utilization, quality assurance, evidence-based medicine initiatives, medical protocol development, and system-based practice initiatives.

Develops an integrated team approach to Ambulatory care. Participates in development and review of outcome data to measure impact of Ambulatory Care services. Design, Reviews, and revises policies related to the clinic practice and Ambulatory Care. Meets regularly with each provider to discuss job related issues, performance, and progress towards achieving established goals and objectives. Mentors and supports other providers in the clinic.

MD or DO

American Board of Internal Medicine or the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine Board Certification

Prior Graduate Medical Education experience preferred

Practicing IM outpatient physician with an interest in academic medicine looking toward future leadership opportunities

Creative thinker with a demonstrated passion for teaching and learning

Possess strong administrative and team building skills

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Maintains up-to-date credentials including CV, License, DEA, CDS, Board Certification, documentation of hospital admitting privileges

Maintains CME credit hours as required for Board Certification and/or hospital staff privileges.
