- Reviews tax information submitted by client for completeness; meets with, emails or calls clients with questions.
- Possesses knowledge of tax regulations in order to answer clients' questions that may arise, under supervision.
- Prepares personal tax returns of various complexities.
- Prepares Corporate, S-Corp, Partnership, and Trust returns that are simple to moderately complex.
- Prepares amended and carry back returns for NOLs that are simple to moderately complex.
- Prepares personal tax projections through use of computer software.
- Prepares compiled financial statements under supervision and performs small business bookkeeping duties, including bank reconciliations, general ledger review and maintenance, preparing adjusting journal entries and preparation of basic financial statements in QuickBooks.
- Responds to tax notices of any sort and does initial drafts of any letters required.
- Performs tax research projects requiring minimal expertise.
- Prepares miscellaneous forms occasionally including property tax refund forms, Form 1099's, and payroll tax returns.
- Completes S-election and requests for accounting changes, as required.
- Prepares tax accruals as may be required in preparing corporate tax returns.
- Works with confidential client matters; requires ability to keep matters confidential.
- Performs such other duties as may be assigned.
- As part of our compliance program, all team members are required to follow industry leading data and system security practices.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, or bachelor's degree in another discipline with various course works in taxes and accounting, through intermediate level.
- 1-3 years of experience preparing individual, corporate, partnership, and S-Corp. tax returns at a public accounting firm (or equivalent).
- Experience using computerized tax preparation, tax planning, and tax research software.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Tax Software and QuickBooks are preferred.
- Hybrid and remote (determined by position) work arrangements available.

Position based in Durham with hybrid work schedule.
What you will do
Our Experienced Tax Staff work on tax preparation for U.S. and multi-state income tax returns for business entities C-corporations, S-Corporations, Partnerships, Fiduciary, and Non-Profit Organizations. You will collaborate with our Tax Seniors, Manager and Partner to complete tasks. Accounting experience is valued as we also assist our clients with some bookkeeping. You should show interest in following changes to tax regulations and laws. Excellent time management skills are also essential, as you'll have to ensure our company meets tight deadlines.
