    Description

    Position Overview

    The Head of E-Commerce is responsible for driving significant incremental revenue for the company through the company's multiple online sales channels. The Head of E-Commerce is part of the Company's Senior Management Team and plays a pivotal role in driving the strategic direction and growth of the company's existing online sales channels and the development of new avenues for growth. This position requires a dynamic individual with a strong mix of strategic thinking, leadership skills, and deep understanding of e-commerce marketplaces, trends and technologies. The Head of E-Commerce oversees all aspects of the e-commerce operations, from website management to customer acquisition, conversion optimization, and fulfillment. The Head of E-commerce collaborates closely with the Heads of Marketing, TapeTech and Ames Stores Group to ensure alignment with overall business objectives and to drive continuous improvement in the e-commerce function.

    Key Responsibilities

    Strategy and Revenue Development: Develop and execute the e-commerce strategy aligned with the overall business objectives and achievement of revenue targets, identifying opportunities for growth and optimization. Own markdown and promotional strategies to maximize profits, including margin implications for inventory control and margin dilution.

    Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a high-performing e-commerce team, providing guidance, direction, and support to achieve departmental goals and objectives.

    Website Management: Oversee the management and optimization of the company's e-commerce websites, ensuring a seamless and user-friendly shopping experience. Build out new websites as necessary. Drive efficiency across all marketplace businesses (supply chain, advertising, customer Service, etc.).

    Digital Marketing: Develop and implement digital marketing strategies to drive qualified traffic, improve conversion rates, and increase online sales through various channels such as SEO, SEM, email marketing, and social media.

    Customer Experience: Work with cross-functional teams on content, web design and usability to create an optimal experience for current and prospective customers. Focus on enhancing the overall customer experience by analyzing customer behavior, feedback, and market trends to identify areas for improvement and optimization.

    Analytics and Reporting: Utilize data analytics and reporting tools to track key performance metrics, generate insights, and make data-driven decisions to improve e-commerce performance. Identify necessary enhancements for the eCommerce platforms to improve the customer acquisition process.

    Partnership Management: Collaborate with internal teams, external vendors, and partners to optimize processes, drive innovation, and ensure seamless integration of e-commerce initiatives.

    Demand Planning, Inventory and Fulfillment: Optimize processes for demand planning and assist with supply chain systems implementations and upgrades. Work closely with the operations team to manage inventory levels, optimize fulfillment processes, and ensure timely and accurate order processing and delivery.

    Compliance and Security: Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards, including data privacy, security, and payment processing regulations.

    Budget Management: Develop and manage the e-commerce budget, allocating resources effectively to maximize ROI and achieve financial targets.

    Primary Qualifications

    Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights and strategies.
    Deep understanding of e-commerce platforms, technologies, and best practices.
    Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate cross-functional teams.
    Demonstrated ability to drive results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
    Experience in retail or consumer goods industry required. Experience in the tools or construction supplies industries preferred.
    Knowledge of emerging trends and technologies in e-commerce.
    Proficiency in digital marketing tools and techniques.
    Strong organizational and project management skills.

    Mental Demands
    Must be able to problem solve and prioritize tasks. Will frequently communicate with management and coworkers and must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. Must be able to manage stress level depending on projects and deadlines. Must be able to multitask various projects ongoing simultaneously. Must be able to receive and analyze information and create actionable plans as a result of the analysis.

    Supervisory Responsibilities
    Directly supervises the E-Commerce team, including content management specialists and the e-commerce customer service team. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
    Education and Experience
    Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, e-commerce, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred. Proven track record of success in e-commerce leadership roles, with a minimum of 6 years of experience.

    Language Skills
    Able to read, analyze, and interpret common technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Able to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Able to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

    Reasoning Ability
    Able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Able to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
