    Position Summary


    As the Senior Accountant, reporting directly to the Director of Accounting, you are responsible for completing timely monthly financial reporting for a designated group of Provision Living owned/managed communities.

    Responsibility includes preparation of monthly financial packages, maintaining accurate records, researching and analyzing accounts, preparing detailed reconciliations for balance sheet accounts, reviewing financial statements and communicating financial information as needed.


    Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
    Ensures and maintains the integrity of the general ledger by applying generally accepted accounting principles to all transactions
    Maintains monthly balance sheet work papers, including accounts payable, prepaid reconciliations, and accrued reconciliations
    Posts monthly journal entries including, payroll journals, payroll accruals, other accruals
    Completes balance sheet account reconciliations and bank account reconciliations by the established due dates
    Responsible for researching and resolving reconciling items in a timely manner
    Utilizes cost centers and chart of account structures to ensure expenses are coded to their proper area
    Reviews P&L and assists in controlling annual expenditures by preparing, verifying, and controlling the entering of journal entries to the general ledger
    Evaluates subsidiary journals for obvious errors and omissions and enter data into the general ledger, i.e., enters monthly journal entries, executes monthly closing entries, executes reclassification of month-end general ledger
    Reviews monthly balance sheet and profit-and-loss statements for accuracy
    Reviews financial statements to ensure that the information reported properly reflects the company's financial position
    Assists in reviewing, updating, and maintaining monthly closing procedures
    Reviews supporting subsidiary schedules to ensure that the company's accounting practices are being maintained, i.e., insurance, fixed assets, capital expenditures, and amortization of pre-paid expenses
    Ensures all processes are appropriately documented and assists in the on-going documentation of accounting policies and procedures
    Partners with external Auditors by fulfilling requests during financial audits, SOX audits or any other audit
    Provides training and responds to questions as needed to the field
    Creates and prepares monthly cash flow statements
    Responsible for monthly billing, residents ledgers and the leasing & rents systems
    Other duties may be assigned.

    Supervisory Responsibilities

    This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.

    Requirements

    Education

    Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school with 3-5 years experience

    Bachelor's degree (B.S./B.A.) or equivalent from a college or university with 2-4 years experience

    Skills/Experience
    Three (3) years of experience in an Accounting role is desired.
    Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

    Great communication and interpersonal skills are required along with the heart and passion to work with older adults while providing the best care possible.

    Must have the ability to remain calm in stressful situations, to be flexible, to work well with many interruptions and have skill in multi-tasking.

    Respect for the principles of resident rights and confidentiality.
    Must exhibit and promote a high level of customer service.

    Travel

    Travel is not required.
