Job summary
Collections clinical laboratory specimens and performs tasks associated with patient registration order entry and specimen processing.
- Performs venipunctures collects other specimens explains proper collection procedures for specimens provided by the patient clarifies orders pre-analytical test requirements when appropriate.
- Registers requisitions lab orders verifies billing information processes stores transports specimens according to laboratory requirements maintains up-to-date knowledge of changes in specimen requirements collection devices assists in orientation training mentoring new staff members participates in Continuous Service Improvement continuing education programs properly records documents necessary expense reimbursement following established electronic processes provides on-call mobile service as required travels sites within 25 miles other than base location needed coverage per diem work determined departments need employees availability flexibility expectation per diem position.
