    Job Summary/Basic Function Consistent with the college's mission of providing a useful education for engaged citizens, the Assistant Director will play an integral role in the development and implementation of community initiatives that provide students with practical leadership experiences and assist in facilitating successful student events and initiatives. Specifically, this position is responsible for leadership development within Campus Life and serves as the primary advisor to the campus programming board (MOB). This position coordinates many leadership development initiatives, including but not limited to a semester workshop series, the Leadership Recognition Ceremony, the Emerging Leader Retreat, LeaderShape, and other opportunities for leadership development. The incumbent creates a vision for leadership development within a liberal arts setting that intentionally supports an engaging academic and intellectual environment for students beyond the classroom walls to prepare Dickinsonians to be citizen leaders with lives of purpose and success. They should create and facilitate distinctive conditions and programs throughout the campus that intentionally foster learning, promote inclusion and self-governance, and seek engagement from its members.

    Essential Functions:

  • Support the overarching programmatic goal of leadership development through the Social Change Model by developing and implementing new programs and executing existing opportunities, including the Emerging Leaders Retreat, the Leadership Recognition Ceremony, the Leadership Workshop Series, LeaderShape, and other leadership initiatives. Serve as the advisor to the campus circle of Omicron Delta Kappa.
  • Create innovative and relevant opportunities for students to engage and find where they feel they belong and ensuring student-centered opportunities for engagement and well-being. Develop and facilitate team-builders and challenge activities that can be accessible to students and student groups.
  • Advise the student programming board (MOB) by providing leadership development opportunities and staff support, including but not limited to assistance with booking, hosting, logistics, and contract negotiations for major entertainment performances, weekly programming, and special events such as concerts, lectures, comedians, dances, and festivals.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of procedures, policies, and protocols for the student programming board (MOB) that minimize risk and give students clear guidance.
  • Complete routine administrative functions (e.g., budgeting, report-writing, strategic planning, record-keeping, data collection, and management).
  • Support the development and assessment of goals and student learning outcomes for leadership development and the student programming board (MOB).
  • Preferred Qualifications Required:

    Bachelor's Degree

    1-3 years work experience

    One year professional experience or two years of a graduate assistantship in Student Activities. Experience with Leadership Development preferred.

    Valid Driver's License

    Preferred:

    Master's Degree – Counseling, Student Affairs, Leadership, Higher Education Administration, or related field A valid Driver's Licence is required. Employees (operators) must have been in possession of a valid operator's license for not less than three (3) years and the license must have been in good standing without interruption during that time period. Yes Successful candidate will also be required to complete ACT 153 Clearance No This position is considered "Emergency Staff." As such they may be required to report to work even when the college is closed or is operating under a delayed start.
