Job summary
The Conventional Machinist I has some knowledge on setting up and operating a variety of conventional machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments including fabricating modifying or repairing mechanical instruments.Responsibilities
Machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as conventional lathes milling machines shapers grinders or drill press Communicate with engineering supervisory or manufacturing personnel to exchange technical information Measure examine and test completed units to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications using precision measurement instruments Set up adjust and operate all of the conventional machine tools drill presses and many specialized or advanced variation tools to perform precision machining operations Align secure holding fixtures cutting tools attachments accessories materials into machines Monitor the feed speed of machines during the machining process Study sample parts blueprints drawings determine methods sequences operations needed fabricate products geometric dimensional tolerances Select appropriate toolsmachinesmaterials preparation machinery work Listen operating machines equipment detect malfunctions compensate problems Any other task assigned supervisor managementJob description
