The SFMTA oversees all transportation modes for the City and County of San Francisco including the San Francisco Municipal Railway Muni bicycling walking on-street and off-street parking management taxis Under supervision for one of these projects a Sign Worker fabricates installs repairs inspects maintains variety signs The Parking Curb Management section within Streets Division is facilitating projects manage parking demand make safety improvements support Transit First Policy Street Safety Initiative involves traffic control measures painted safety zones bike lanes parking adjustments traffic lane changes pedestrian bicycle safety Under general supervision Traffic Survey Technician performs surveys connection measurement traffic flow carries out inspections sub-professional level field office traffic engineering work installation maintenance traffic street signs markings meters signals devices Examples Important Essential Duties Performs field surveys compiles data connection measurement traffic flow vehicle speed signal timing installs counters record vehicle volume counts collects tabulates data relative traffic movement Performs field surveys adjudicate parking citation protests compile data hearing division research necessity colored curb zones Performs field investigations inspections determine placement condition traffic street name signs determines location installation signs prepares work orders installation maintenance modification street devices high priority hazardous situations may assign work directly maintenance workers Performs drafting makes sketches involving signals sign locations parking meter layouts colored curb pavement striping Prepares reports inspection investigation activities researches inputs tabulates data collected field surveys computer/internet tools sources maintains databases records related Surveys Receives investigates responds inquiries complaints public departmental personnel external agencies regarding issues posts public notice hearings regarding issues Drives motor vehicle reach sites transport equipment tools measuring devices supplies Updates GIS web map creating assets work orders laptop desktop mobile device daily Performed duties required

Qualifications

  • Possession high school diploma equivalent General Education Diploma California High School Proficiency Certificate.
  • Two (2) years verifiable experience surveying inspecting collecting/recording data equivalent Traffic Survey Technician OR installing maintaining traffic street signs OR inspecting assess condition enforceability.
