- Prepare, examine, or analyze accounting records, financial statements, or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.
- Manage accounting and reporting for corporate investments.
- Perform cash balance summaries and analysis for Senior Management
- Analyze financial information to provide forecasts of business on products and investment decisions.
- Conduct cost-benefit and/or return-on-investment analysis for various projects to aid management in making decisions.
- Assist in month-end closing and distribution of monthly financial statements focusing on subsidiary close and related accounting and analytics to close the subsidiary books.
- Prepare and file statutory financial statements and reports quarterly and annually.
- Perform statutory research and statutory reporting treatment for unique/unusual accounting events.
- Identify anomalies and investigate root cause issues and recommend corrective action.
- Assist with annual budgeting and planning processes.
- Prepare quarterly budget to actual variance reporting for management.
- Assist with internal control policy development and compliance.
- Assist other organizational units regarding accounting policies and procedures.
- Provide backup to other positions within the functional area.
- Special projects and other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting with a minimum of 5-7 years related financial services industry experience or equivalent (insurance industry experience preferred)
- Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles, including GAAP and STAT
- Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems
- Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections.
- Internal control experience preferred.
- Professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience with MS Office Suite applications and demonstrated proficiency with Excel and Access
- Discretion working with confidential information required.
- Self-motivated and directed; able to take initiative with projects.
- Analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Demonstrated project management skills; must effectively prioritize and execute tasks.
- Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
- Ability to operate a computer keyboard, mouse and handle other computer components.
- General office working conditions, which may require sitting for extended periods.
- Travel required <5%.
