Apex Systems is looking for an IT Support Specialist for our client in Birmingham, AL.Location:
Birmingham, AL - fully onsite
Shift:
The shift is an 8-week rotating, varying shift.
While it does include some nights, weekends, and holidays, there is also the opportunity for scheduled training and development and a scheduled week off.

Job Description:
This position is part of a contracted 24x7x365 staff that provides frontline computer systems and application diagnostics and support, along with being the primary communications channel between the customer, support personnel, and management.
Primary Responsibilities:
Day-to-day monitoring of the primary Supervisor Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and ancillary systems for health and availability
Front-line problem resolution and coordination of repairs with mission-critical department personnel and/or other company personnel
Notification to key customers for the coordination of system outages and events that may impact critical systems
Provide input to the Team Lead and Supervisor on continual process improvement and customer feedback
Thoroughly track and document cases to completion with the help of mission-critical department personnel
Adhere to all Electronic and Physical access policies
Day-to-day monitoring and support of Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery systems
Requirements, Skills, and Competencies:
3+ years of IT Experience, Incident Management, or Desktop Support
Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as a part of a rotating shift
Requires excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively in both an oral and written manner
Follow and properly apply both Change Management processes and knowledge-based procedures
Multitask and prioritize tasks based on critical and operational impact on the system
Windows experience
Linux/UNIX experience preferred
IT Problem Solving and Troubleshooting experience
Incident Management experience preferred
Excellent communication skills and ability to relay information clearly and effectively
Go-getter mentality who is active in learning, ask questions, and growing
Ability to build and maintain relationships and key customers
Education and Experience Required:
Formal education in Computer Science or related IT field or equivalent experience is required.
