Description

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Performs manual labor

Operates light, medium and heavy vehicles, power tools, trucks, snow plows, salt and brine spreaders, grass cutting and other equipmentUNDER GENERAL SUPERVISION

Logs and keeps records of daily operations

Operates hand tools, power tools and other small equipment

Makes minor adjustments on equipment to insure proper working condition

Operates snow equipment

Operates garbage packer trucks, haul trucks, dump trucks, stake bed, woodchipper, water truck, vac-all, sweepers and other equipment

Operates heavy equipment to load and remove junk and trash

Observes and checks operation of equipment for malfunctions and notifies supervisor of needed service or repair

Assists with properly tarping loads

Performs related workHigh school diploma or the equivalent


WORK EXPERIENCE
One year of garage packer truck, haul truck, wood-chipper, water truck or other heavy equipment operation experience


EQUIVALENCY
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted


OTHER MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Must submit to and pass pre-employment and random alcohol and drug tests as mandated by the Department of Transportation

Must wear safety equipment as mandated by OSHA

Must be on 24 hour call

Must work a varied schedule


SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Must possess and maintain a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with tanker endorsement or obtain within three months of employment


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
Meets regular and punctual attendance standards and any special needs of the position as determined by management, including mandatory overtime and performing related work

Spends prolonged periods of time sitting, standing, walking, carrying, stooping and climbing

Lifts and carries items weighing up to 100 pounds in a team setting

Spends prolonged periods of time exposed to the elementsEOE
