    Essential Job Duties:
    • Perform assigned pre and post analytical activities related to anatomic pathology tests assigned including specimen collection and processing, Quality Control, equipment maintenance, inventory control, Quality Assurance and proficiency testing procedures
    • Perform analytical activities related to specimen processing, embedding, cutting, routine and special histologic staining, frozen sectioning, coverslipping, and handling of irreplaceable tissue, surgical, and body fluid specimens
    • Direct work flow as needed, ensuring timely distribution of completed patient materials to assigned pathologists; Adjust employee tasks as needed during shift to ensure priorities and work volume is covered
    • Immediately notifies supervisor of malfunctioning instrumentation and employee call-ins; Immediately notifies supervisor of significant delays or errors which occur during shift
    • Adheres to all PBM Safety policies and to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state, and federal agencies and accrediting bodies; Provide oversight and assistance in the event of employee injuries during shift, to include completing paperwork, assisting injured employee with medical care (as needed), and notifying appropriate management
    • Utilize automated Histology equipment properly according to lab procedures and manufacturers' instructions
    • Handle infectious biological specimens, caustics, toxic chemicals and/or irritants appropriately and safely
    • Learn and apply computer related applications and programs, including using electronic keyboard and other peripheral devices
    • Ensure work area has proper coverage at all times during the work shift, ie coverage or meal and/or rest periods
    • Protects confidentiality of patient information and results at all times
    • Cross train in other areas as assigned or requested
    • Perform other duties as assigned or requested
    Requirements

    HT/HTL (ASCP) certification or obtained within 18 months of employment

    Minimum of 1 year lab experience
