- A minimum of a high school diploma or GED required. Higher education (Associates or Bachelors degree) in criminal justice or related field is preferred.
- Minimum of two years of dispatch, security, emergency services, or related experience required.
- Experience working in the healthcare environment is strongly preferred
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license from the state in which the employee resides
- Must be able to pass an annual criminal background and driving history check
- Must be able to obtain certification in the following, and maintain active certification throughout employment: o AVADE Workplace Violence Prevention
- Preferred Qualifications:
- International Association of Healthcare Safety and Security (IAHSS) Basic Certification (within 90 days of hire)
- Massachusetts License to Carry Class A Licensure
- Ability to be licensed as a Special State Police Officer under the Commonwealth of MA General Laws Chapter 22 C, section 63.
- Excellent communication skills, including but not limited to, telephone answering techniques, using tact and diplomacy, being an active listener and being articulate.
- Friendly and outgoing with a commitment to service.
- Strong problem-solving skills, critical and analytical thinking, good judgment, and decision-making ability.
- Good organizational skills to handle multiple tasks and prioritize and handle diverse, stressful situations in a fast paced, high-volume environment.
- Intermediate computer skills; typing, use of database software, communications equipment, and access programming.
- Access control, computer aided dispatch and intermediate computer skills preferred.
- Knowledge of closed-circuit TV and alarm systems preferred.
- Strong writing skills to provide and maintain documentation to support data
- Discretion and judgment in handling confidential information.
- Ability to work well and effectively under pressure individually as well as in a team.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to recognize, acknowledges, respect and effectively interact with different ages and cultures.
- Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently.
