    Summary:

    The Buyer manages routine procurement tasks such as coordinating with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery, assisting with negotiations, and maintaining accurate records. This role contributes independently, actively seeks opportunities for process improvement, and demonstrates strong problem-solving skills.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Work cross-functionally with various departments to ensure the right parts are purchased at cost effective pricing and delivered in a timely manner
    • General understanding of engineering, process, assembly, and traveler documentation
    • Obtain quotes and support in the negotiation and procurement of materials and services for the best value
    • Prepare required paperwork for Purchase order packages, shippers, RFPs/RFQs, supplier and interdepartmental correspondence, etc.
    • Verify accuracy of all documentation including but not limited to supplier proposals to purchase orders, file documentation, invoices, receipts and signed purchase orders
    • Assist other departments by obtaining samples and data books for Engineering, Certifications of Inspection, and clarifying paperwork for Receiving, Inspection, and Accounting, etc.
    • Invoice negotiate with suppliers when suppliers-caused rework occurs
    • Process rejected materials back to supplier within a timely manner of receipt
    • Report accurate and up-to-date information in production team meetings as assigned
    • Conduct desk audits on a weekly basis to determine if the desk queue is meeting company standards of placing requisitions, updating purchase orders, processing, tracing to completion to avoid delivery impact, and ensuring suppliers are meeting current quality acceptance and on-time delivery goals

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Regulated industry experience such as Aerospace / Avionics / Space
    • Buyer certification
    • Good communication skills, both verbal and written, and ability to communicate at different levels of the organization
    • Self-motivated and results-oriented
    • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
    • Sense of ownership and responsibility

    Education, Experience and/or Certifications:

    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • Minimum of 3 years of direct experience

    • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals

    • Ability to apply simple mathematics (calculus, statistics, and probability theory)

    Reasoning Ability:

    • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
    • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
    • Ability to apply logic and the scientific method to a wide variety of intellectual and practical problems, and comprehend basic formulae, graphs, etc.

    Computer Skills:

    • Ability to physically operate a computer, keyboard, mouse, etc.
    • Working knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office software
    • User of LabView software
    • User of database management systems such as Omnify
    • User of MRP systems such as MAS90, SAP, etc.
