    • GJob DutiesThe Virginia Department of Aviation is seeking an aircraft registration compliance coordinator (financial auditor) to provide technical support to the Aircraft Registration Program Manager in administering the Commonwealth's Aircraft Registration and Compliance Program.
    Position responsibilities include understanding, interpreting and applying state and federal laws and regulations; conducting research of aircraft regulation compliance; analyzing data, and performing compliance reviews and aircraft sales and use tax analysis. This position assists in reviewing registration applications and verifies insurance documentation. The position requires the handling of highly sensitive information in a confidential manner, and the employee will be required to sign a Confidentiality Statement for securing tax information.
    Minimum QualificationsWorking knowledge of basic accounting principles and procedures. Demonstrated experience in researching, investigating and analyzing data. Demonstrated ability to interpret data, find deviations from expected outcomes, and take corrective actions. In-depth experience with Microsoft Office (especially Word and Excel). Effective oral and written communication skills. Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team. Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a high-visibility, time-sensitive work environment. Experience with tax review and assessment. High school diploma or equivalent.
    Additional ConsiderationsKnowledge and experience with the aviation industry and its operations. Working knowledge and experience applying Virginia aviation law and Virginia Aircraft Sales & Use Tax law. Knowledge and experience applying Federal Aviation Administration rules and regulations. Experience with aviation-specific software applications. Some college or equivalent training and experience.
