    Job DescriptionNorfolk Southern Corporation is currently seeking a second-level IT Operations Support Engineer within a dynamic 24x7 operation center, necessitating candidates to have flexibility for 3rd shift hours.

    Join a team that oversees the management and administration across a diverse technical landscape, including Linux, AIX, Database, Mainframe, SAN, Web Services/OES, and Wintel environments.

    Responsibilities Provide level 2 support for the Mainframe, Linux, AIX, Database, SAN, Web Services, and Wintel environments.

    Serve as a liaison to the Open Enterprise Systems/Linux Team in a complex, mission critical computing environment, supporting primarily Red Hat Linux and some Solaris.

    Monitor Critical Tasks, set MQ Triggers, manage Job Requests, and perform administrative tasks for the Linux, AIX, Mainframe, SAN, Web Services, and Wintel areas.

    Troubleshoot procedures for hardware and software problems.

    Utilize an Interaction/Incident management tool to open tickets, track open tickets, escalate end user problems, and ensure resolution and closure.

    Be a central point of contact for all infrastructure areas including Linux, AIX, Mainframe, SAN, Web Services, and Wintel environments.

    Interact with various internal support groups to create troubleshooting/administration/escalation/dispatch documentation. Provide customers with basic analysis, diagnostics, and resolution, taking corrective action to achieve maximum customer productivity. Troubleshoot and resolve complex problems reported to the Operations Center. Analyze the impact of problems and escalate appropriately. Interface with internal and external support specialists for problem determination and resolution. Handle problem management in ServiceNow platform for running reports and building dashboards. Triage problems, document, troubleshoot, resolve and/or dispatch problems as needed. Utilize verbal and written communication skills for clear and effective interaction with team members and stakeholders. Able to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team. Handle stressful situations and maintain composure under pressure.
    Skills Required 2+ years of IT operations support experience in Linux and Windows. Able to work 2nd and 3rd Shift hours in a 7x24x365 operation. Experience with facilitating IT support bridge calls and leading meetings. Experience using ITSM ticketing systems such as ServiceNow or Remedy.
    Skills Preferred Bachelors degree in computer science, Computer Information Systems, Business, Management, Information Systems or Engineering. AIX, Mainframe, SAN, Web Services, and/or Wintel experience. Experience in the railroad or transportation industry.
