    The Childrens Hospital of Michigan Emergency Department is a verified Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center and dedicated pediatric burn center.

    Experts in pediatric critical care, rehabilitation, and neonatal and perinatal medicine provide care for thousands of children every year at Childrens Hospital of Michigan, Childrens Hospital of Michigan - Troy and six ambulatory sites.

    The Nurse Extern II (NE II) is a member of the patient care services team with primary responsibilities for technical, multi-skilled direct and indirect patient care activities.

    The NE II is assigned to work under the supervision of a registered nurse who delegates tasks based upon patient needs and NE II skills and abilities.

    It is recognized that specific patient care tasks may vary widely in type and frequency from unit to unit or across service lines, based on the nature of the patient population being served.

    The Nurse Extern II will be assigned to an experienced RN each shift and will assist with providing patient care such as ADLS, vitals, ambulation and other duties within the scope of patient care tech or equivalent.

    Applicants can apply starting 6 months before graduation from an accredited school of nursing and must pass all senior courses to remain in the program.
