    Position Purpose:


    Under the direction of the Chief Supply Chain Officer, is responsible for planning, organizing and directing the daily activities of the Sterile Processing Department including but not limited to decontamination, assembly, sterilization, tray management, instrument inventory, sterile storage and supply management.


    Essential Functions:


    Plans and administers directly, and through staff personnel, the effective management and delivery of sterile processing procedures in accordance with all hospital system and regulatory agency standards.

    Demonstrates and remains current with specialized knowledge of instrument care and sterilization standards.
    Manages inventory levels of all supplies in support of complete and accurate case carts and departmental goals.
    Ensures the attainment of objectives through the selection, development, training and evaluation of staff.

    Demonstrates fiscal responsibility by taking ownership and on-going evaluation of SPD equipment, supplies, throughput of items/instrumentation, and staffing, by decreasing waste and promoting cost effectiveness.

    Monitors and reviews department financials on monthly basis; develops and implements appropriate methods to adhere to budgets and resolve variances.

    Serve as technical resource for staff in resolving complex problems and in investigating and recommending corrective actions/resolution.
    Fosters smooth running sterile processing functions through timely and effective resolution of disruptions to daily operations.

    Ensures the most effective operations of Sterile Processing through Program development, process improvement and coordination/integration of processes within Surgical Services and other departments.

    Reviews and evaluates daily workflows and adjusts staffing patterns according to needs of the department in support of Surgical Services, Labor & Delivery and equipment needs for the Hospital.

    Provides and promotes continuous education through in-services, hand on training or lectures for sterile processing technicians.

    General Job requirements:
    Bachelor's degree preferred.
    Ability to multitasks and prioritize projects and assignments.
    Ability to utilize computer system for spreadsheets and projects.
    Ability to conduct productive meetings.
    Ability to manage conflicts and negotiation.
    Knowledge and experience in preparing and managing a realistic budget.
    5-7 years or more experience in Sterile Processing and/or Supply Chain Management.
