    Your Role and ResponsibilitiesAs an Infrastructure Specialist at IBM you will support the infrastructure running industries likes transportation, energy, insurance, banking or healthcare which are rapidly changing as the worlds relationship with technology evolves.

    As an Infrastructure Specialist, you'll be responsible for keeping up with the latest changes, using your expertise to deliver solutions that meet the needs of our clients and products.


    In your role you may be responsible for:

    Participating in the evaluation, selection, design and deployment of procured storage and backup equipment using best practices, with vendor guidance.

    Monitoring, evaluating and maintaining SAN and NAS storage, to include firmware and software upgrades and patching.
    Maintaining ad-hoc storage data infrastructure within scientific laboratories.
    Maintaining storage data security and review data permission with primary data owners.
    Responsible for the integrity of the data, and data protection based on established policies and standards.
    Analyzing and recommending data security standards to ensure confidentiality, availability, and integrity.

    Performing disaster recovery tests for storage and backup infrastructure in accordance to policy, on a quarterly basis, to ensure data integrity and availability.

    Auditing current data security restrictions such as access to network resources or data and recommend corrective action plans, as necessary.

    Auditing storage data for data files moves, data file creates, data file deletions, and data file modifications.

    Providing technical expertise for storage/backup incident management, change, configuration, problem, quality and request management following an ITIL model in a hosting environment.

    Developing and monitoring storage and backup/restore policies and standards.
    Establishing storage policies and procedures regarding access methods and time, security validation checks, and documentation.
    Researching and recommending upgrades or enhancements for the IT/system infrastructure, as needed.
    Developing and maintaining technical documentation.
    Maintaining awareness of technology evolution and proactively recommends further investigation where warranted.
    Required Technical and Professional ExpertiseExperience designing, implementing and maintaining a multi-tiered storage environment including SAN and NAS platforms.
    Experiencing managing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise-level backup environments, preferably with Commvault Simpana.
    Experience in SAN Fabric maintenance, including array and fiber switch administration.
    Must have a Bachelor's degree.

    Must be able to obtain and maintain a Federal Public Trust Clearance/MBI.Preferred Technical and Professional ExpertiseExperience providing systems usage statistics for use in overall capacity planning initiatives.

    Ability and willingness to communicate effectively and appropriately.

    One or more of the following certifications:

    Certified Storage Engineer (SCSE) or Architect (SCSA)Commvault Certified Specialist or ProfessionalIsilon Certified Support Professional (ICSP) or Integration Engineer (ICIE)Experience with creating process improvement for storage and backup services to increaseAbility to drive projects to successful completion in coordination with stakeholders and peers.

    Ability to provide technical guidance to team members and lower-level technicians.

The salary will vary depending on your job-related skills, experience and location. Pay increment and frequency of pay will be in accordance with employment classification and applicable laws. For part time roles, your compensation and benefits will be adjusted to reflect your hours. Benefits may be pro-rated for those who start working during the calendar year.
