    Position Title: Corrosion Engineer

    Department: Maintenance and Asset Integrity

    Reports To: Maintenance and Asset Integrity Manager

    Primary Responsibilities

    Provide consultation to project, maintenance, and inspection functions pertaining to corrosion / materials issues. Responsible for assisting with the development of technical deliverables associated within the mechanical integrity (structural & equipment) including evaluation and assessment of collected corrosion data, inspection scheduling, and cost control.

    Provide oversite and management of contracts associated with corrosion management as well as general M&AI contract support.

    Skill Profile

    • Bachelors degree in Engineering
    • 2-3 years of industry experience applicable to the primary and detailed responsibilities outlined in this document
    • Industry knowledge of applicable regulatory, safety and design codes
    • Strong knowledge and field experience of the principles and practices of corrosion engineering, corrosion test methods, procedures for investigating corrosion problems and corrosion control and prevention methods
    • Familiarity with API/ASME code requirements and ability to recognize variances from standards and procedures to ensure compliance.
    • A post-graduate qualification in a materials/corrosion related subject is preferred

    Detailed Responsibilities

    • Provide expertise and knowledge base to improve corrosion management of operated facilities by early identification of corrosion / materials issues
    • Develop, implement, and continuously improve a Corrosion Management Program and recommend mitigation techniques in terms of materials selection, coatings, cathodic protection, inhibitors & biocides, etc.
    • Corrosion coupons program management: plan and schedule the coupons installation/retrieval, analyse the results and propose the improvement/mitigation actions, updated the plan and database
    • Inspection Program management: organize, plan and schedule the inspection activities (pressure vessels, tanks, process piping and pipelines), ensuring proper application of RBI program, statutory requirements, industry and company policies/standards/best practices; provide assistance to inspection contractor during the inspection planning and execution stages, ensuring necessary technical information; review inspection data and perform QA checks, evaluate corrosion mechanism and integrity status of inspected items, propose improvement actions and mitigation measures, accordingly update the inspection program; keep updated Inspection Data Management System (IDMS) in accurate and timely manner; track and follow-up proposed mitigation actions and repairs
    • Develop and revise local company procedures related to asset integrity and corrosion management system
    • Lead the failure analysis due to corrosion issues, collect the data and prepare technical report, propose remedial actions, follow-up actions implementation, share the lessons learned within the organization
    • Revise documentation produced by contractors, including reports, procedures, technical studies
    • Assist in preparation of subject related presentations and articles, as well as technical scope of works for contracts
    • Provide assistance in production chemistry subjects and biocide treatment program
    • Participate actively in regulatory and company audits
    • Assist in cost estimation, economic evaluation, budget preparation, tracking and optimization of costs for corrosion management activities
