    We have an opening for a Construction Manager based out of our Long Beach, CA office.


    The Project Resource and Outage Support (PROS) Group is a diverse group that supports Industrial Gases (IG) North America capital projects, strategic planning, turnaround planning, and turnaround execution.

    This allows our team to provide specialized services and additional capacity for infrequent events to operational assets.


    Essential job functions:
    Strong industrial construction management experience of large multi discipline sites.
    Effective and Strong leader and coordinator.
    Work requires working from heights, climbing fixed ladders, and stairs, etc.
    Organized, focused, able to perform under pressure and handle multiple priorities and parallel tasks.
    Understands quality standards as outlined by Air Products.


    Primary job responsibilities:
    Lead assigned portion of outage scope through planning and construction.
    The successful execution of all the site construction works in accordance with the project schedule, cost and other KPIs.
    Create detailed planning activities in P6 for each work order applying planning templates as applicable. Activities include individual tasks, manpower, durations, and assigned discipline. Generate mechanical job packages if required, including pictures, P&IDs, BOMs, tools, safe work procedures, applicable standards, QC requirements, etc.
    Complete Material Takeoffs for requisitioning/purchasing purposes, includes field verification
    Provide daily schedule updates during outage execution.

    Maintain a strong and effective professional working relationship with the AP Project Management, Client, interfacing EPC's, sub-contractors, and other stakeholders.

    Provide leadership to ensure prompt prioritization and coordination of all unforeseen issues at the site, bringing up to the Project Manager and Senior Project Manager as required.

    Support Air Products Management of Change process, recognizing plant changes and following through on all documentation and recommendations in a timely manner.

    Support as well as promote implementation of the various Project Safety, Security and Quality plans.
    Support and promote the implementation of the Project Execution Plan.

    Provide contractor field management in all outage phases for assigned contractors, including safety, timesheet verification, field oversight, change orders, and QC verification.

    Uphold and communicate high standards of housekeeping in assigned areas and on all job sites. Conduct frequent formal housekeeping inspections of plant areas.
    Complete close out and documentation as required by Air Products standards and procedures.

    Overall has responsibility for:
    the construction work.
    safety on the construction site.
    Leading Safety Meetings and Toolbox discussions
    Participate in Safe Work Permitting Process with Operations
    Safe Work Audits


    Performance standard:
    Willing to work a wide variety of scheduled days and hours, including night shift, following strict fatigue management guidelines.

    Based out of designated home office in Long Beach, CA, travel may be required as much as 25-45% depending on projects.

    Primary focus will be West Region; however, turnarounds may be out of region and/or international (Canada, Trinidad), i.e. "Wherever needed"

    Required abilities and conduct:
    Able to achieve various State mandated certifications, TWIC, and other requirements as may be deemed necessary.
    Prioritize "Zero is achievable" safety policy in words and actions to protect self, others, and the environment.
    High ethical standards - unwilling to compromise on worker safety and regulatory compliance requirements.
    Demonstrates positive, supportive, and cooperative behavior in interacting with co-workers, supervisors and management.

    Maintains confidentiality of written and verbal information pertaining to Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., its staff, management and participating onsite affiliates.


    Requirements / Qualifications:
    Ability to read and understand P&IDs, ISO's, piping isometrics, fixed equipment design packages, and pipe specs.
    Familiar with Crane operations and oversight of major crane lifts
    Familiar with specialty welding procedures
    Familiar with P6 Scheduling

    Proficient in the use of computers and business software, including Microsoft (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook) OneNote, SAP, Primavera P6.

    Experience with a variety of heavy equipment, especially cranes, preferred.
    Experience with piping design and understanding of ASME B31.1 and ASME B31.3

    10+ years' validated experience in maintenance and/or engineering disciplines, preferably with experience in industrial outages, exchangers, pumps, hydrotesting and pipe fabrication.

    Technical, Engineering, or Construction Management degree a plus, but not required.
