    Description

    McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston , a leading academic health center, invites applications for a full-time faculty position in the Department of Diagnostic and Interventional Imaging . The preferred candidate will be a board-certified radiologist with special competence in nuclear medicine or a Nuclear Medicine physician.

    McGovern Medical School primarily provides imaging services at Memorial Hermann Hospital, Children's Memorial Hermann Hospital in the Texas Medical Center, and Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital in the Harris Health System. The Nuclear Medicine section performs a broad array of nuclear medicine diagnostic examinations and therapies in both adults and children, including cardiac imaging and PET/CT. The Nuclear Medicine section faculty perform a total of approximately 8,081 examinations and procedures per year. The position involves teaching residents, fellows, and medical students. Evidence of scholarship is desirable. Academic activities are strongly encouraged and supported.

    Position Key Accountabilities:

    The faculty in Diagnostic & Interventional Imaging will be doing research, teaching, clinical service, administration, providing patient care, and supervising medical students and residents in hospital settings.

    • Performing a variety of staff management functions including interviewing, and evaluating clinical, and support staff.
    • Providing coaching, mentoring, support, and consultation to clinical managers, attending physicians, research personnel, colleagues, and clinical staff.
    • Serving as a role model in professional behavior and leadership skills, problem-solving ability, and interpersonal skills.
    • Maintaining an ongoing departmental Quality Improvement Plan and process consistent with the organizational Quality Management Plan; developing and implementing unit-specific standards, policies, and procedures that guide and support the provision of care and services; continuously assessing and improving assigned departments' performance while enhancing service.
    • Participating in and/or chairing committees, work groups, and meetings as appropriate
    • Assuring interdisciplinary performance improvement programs are active, maintained, and ongoing. Following up to ensure that complaints have been satisfactorily handled. Collaborating to maintain a focus on providing excellent clinical services.

    Qualifications:

    • ABR or ABNM certified and CAQ certified or eligible.
    • Experience and expertise in protocoling, supervising, and interpreting a variety of nuclear medicine studies and therapies.
    • Texas Medical license or qualify for a faculty temporary license.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Board-certified radiologist with special competence in nuclear medicine or a Nuclear Medicine physician.
    • Credentials such as a diagnostic radiology residency and additional Nuclear Medicine training or Nuclear Medicine
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with strong potential for a leadership role within the department.
