is searching for a versatile and skilled Junior to Intermediate Firmware Developer specializing in Arm-based development, with a unique focus on audio and MIDI development. This role requires some experience in FreeRTOS and Embedded Linux or other real time operating systems, as well as the ability to contribute to the entire product lifecycle. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and maintaining firmware for manufacturer testing of our cutting-edge products plus assisting in development of product firmware. Reporting to the Hardware Manager, you will join a small team of firmware developers creating new and innovative hardware products.

What You'll Do:

• Manufacturing Test Design:
• Create and implement robust manufacturing test strategies for many components of systems and products.
• Collaborate with the quality assurance team to validate and refine manufacturing tests.
• Develop applications and embedded firmware to guide, perform and track manufacturing testing and validation.
• Arm-Based Development:
• Collaborate with the senior development team to design, implement, and optimize firmware for Arm-based platforms.
• Develop and maintain code for various Arm architectures, ensuring efficient and reliable performance.
• FreeRTOS and Embedded Linux:
• Proficiently work with FreeRTOS for real-time embedded systems.
• Contribute to the development and customization of Embedded Linux solutions for our devices.
• Driver and Application Development:
• Design, implement, and maintain device drivers to ensure seamless integration of audio and MIDI hardware components.
• Develop and enhance applications as assigned by senior developers, addressing functionality and performance requirements.
• Integration with Company Applications:
• Work closely with other development teams to seamlessly integrate hardware with the company's various applications and software ecosystems.
• Collaborate on API design and implementation to facilitate smooth communication between firmware and applications.

Requirements:

• Experience in firmware development with a focus on Arm-based architectures
• Exposure to FreeRTOS and Embedded Linux development or other real time operating system development
• Strong programming skills in C and C++
• Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
• Strong communication skills to effectively convey ideas and solutions

Bonus but not required:

• Knowledge of communication protocols (e.g., SPI, I2C, UART)
• Experience in designing and implementing device drivers a plus
• Understanding of audio processing algorithms and MIDI protocols
• Exposure to USB protocols
• Solid grasp on Network protocols and standards
• Experience with Yocto Project for Embedded Linux customization
• Understanding of real-time operating systems and multitasking
• Exposure to continuous integration and automated testing
• Experience with hardware schematics and layouts
• Experience with appropriate tools of the trade: SWD debuggers, Oscilloscopes, DVMs and Logic Analyzer
• Familiarity with version control systems (GIT) and task management (Jira) use
