- Demonstrates basic knowledge in decontamination, prep, packing, sterilization, sterile storage, and patient care.
- Adheres to safety standards.
- Identifies cleaning procedures for general instrumentation.
- Prepares and uses supplies for assembly.
- Inspects, assembles, and labels instruments.
- Operates sterilization equipment and verifies the sterilization process.
- Performs steam and gas plasma sterilization.
- Work Settings - Acute Hospital OR
- Decontamination and Disinfection - Cleaning equipment, High-Level Disinfection, Use of Washers/sterilizers.
- Preparation and Handling - Wrapping materials, Sterilization wrapping procedures.
- Processing - Sets/trays assembly.
- Equipment Documentation.
- Sterile Processing Microsystem (SPM) - (PREFERRED).
- Specialty Equipment Processing - Neurology, Orthopedics.
- Sterilization - Biological indicators, Chemical indicators, Flash sterilization, Steam Sterilization Testing/monitoring.
- Additional Skills - Neuro/Crani, Ortho/Totals.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum 2 years experience required.
- BLS – AHA.
- Covid - Medical/Religious Exemptions Only.
- Certified Sterile Processing Technician (CBSPD) or IAHCSMM.
- Active WA License.
