OverviewFairview Health Services is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at M Health Fairview Southdale Hospital located in Edina, MN
This multi-diagnosis Intensive Care Unit cares for critically ill patients 18 years and older.
We see approximately 8-10 open heart surgical patients per week as well as other major surgical patients, acute respiratory failure, OD / withdrawal, medical and surgical neuro and minimal trauma.
We provide Telemedicine ICU services for the system and take care of patients with IABP, Impella, hypothermia therapy, and CRRT.
However, we do transfer patients requiring LVAD or ECMO to the University of MN.Schedule:
This position will be working 0.75 FTE (60 hours every two weeks). The shift length will be 12 hours on the night shift. This position will also work a rotation for every 3rd weekend.

About the ICU at Southdale Hospital:
This position reports to the Nurse Manager and Patient Care Supervisor.
We are a 23-bedunit.
We have an average daily census of 20-21 patients.
Currently, we have 90 FTEs / 130 employees in the department.
Approximately half of our RN staff has acquired an advanced certification in Critical Care Nursing.
24/7 Intensivist coverage in the ICU.

The Registered Nurse is responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care for all assigned patient population(s).
The RN is responsible for performing these responsibilities in accordance with all policy, procedures, professional practice guidelines and the MN Nurse Practice Act.
The RN coordinates care with members of the health care team and delegates responsibilities to others as appropriate.As an ICU RN, you will be responsible for *:
Assessing patient needs and identifying expected nursing outcomes;
Developing an individualized nursing plan of care;
Implementing interventions as needed during treatment based on the plan of care;
Evaluating care and patient response to interventions and expected outcomes;
Using communication strategies to achieve desirable outcomes;
Coordinating care with members of the health care team and delegating responsibilities to others as appropriate;
Demonstrating the ability to advance care by utilizing standards, guidelines, care pathways, and continuous improvement to enhance patient outcomes;
Promoting a culture of evidence-based practice (EBP) by participating in a multitude of available opportunities; and
Performing these responsibilities in accordance with all policy, procedures, professional practice guidelines and the MN Nurse Practice Act.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
MN RN License
Basic Life Support (BLSfor Health Care Provider
RN acute care ICU experience or one year current Medical/Surgical with telemetry experience as an RN in an acute care hospital setting
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
Adult Critical Care RN experience is preferred
