    The school has 7 academic departments, a number of centers focused on research and a strong commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.

    The Research Program Associate, POD 2 performs research grant life-cycle administration (pre- and post-award management) within Research Pod 2.

    The Pod is structured to provide a supportive environment for individuals seeking to obtain mastery in research administration, and presents opportunities for growth and professional development.

    Positions within the Pod are currently utilizing a full remote schedule.

    Research Program Associates (RPAs) are also expected to choose a specific area to become a subject matter expert for the Pod (eg.

    NIH proposals, Foundation proposals, subrecipients, labor and effort, training).
    The duties of the Research Program Associate (RPA) are split into two major categories of pre-award and post-award.
    The first category includes proposal preparation and submission in collaboration with research faculty.

    As a RPA, the amount, complexity and autonomy for handling proposals is at a higher level than the entry-level School Research Administrator position.

    Prepares budgets and other related documents.
    Post-award research administration includes working closely with a group of faculty and overseeing their portfolios.

    Meetings to strategize and reconcile award funds are expected to occur on a bimonthly cadence, and the RPA conducts outreach to other GW stakeholders to assist in maintaining standard operational efficiencies.

    Reviews payroll distributions.
    Performs other related duties as assigned, such as participation in Pod and University research related meetings/committees.

    Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 2 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Master's degree or higher in a relevant area of study.

    Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
