    Description

    Excel Engineering, Inc. is seeking a team-oriented, highly motivated individual for a Construction Manager-IV+ position. This is for our power utility client in the Twin Cities MN

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Oversees operations at a power generation plant
    • Responsible for the construction of new pre-engineered metal building, the foundations for it in the installation and commissioning of 3 Wartsila generating units and the BOP mechanical systems to support those.
    • Work under the direction of the onsite construction manager.
    • This resource will be working with a team of 20 in addition to plant staff and contractors.
    • Responsible for the footings, foundations, and erection of the pre-engineered metal building; clad and pre-cast, installation of the pre-packed Wartsila generating units and the installation and commissioning of the mechanical BOP systems to support the operations of those units and the facility itself.
    • Working with engineering and quality control to ensure the team is meeting expectations.
    • Responsible for planning, execution and oversight of the work being done and documenting milestones.
    • Position is office based (30%) with the other 70% spent in the field doing daily inspections, observations (both work and safety).
    • 6AM-4:30PM, 6 days a week with mandatory OT.
    Requirements
    • 8-10 years of experience.
    • Experience with construction that pertains to power generation by combustion turbines, generators/Wasilla in addition to the BOP systems that support them.
    • Must have a strong mechanical background that again has the power generation experience on plant mechanical systems, water processing, air compressors, HVAC, fire protection, etc.
    • Balance of plant mechanical experience but also has experience laying foundations for structural steel.
    • Familiar with drawings/blueprints (typically reviewed via Adobe/PDF). Able to read and comprehended mechanical specs.
    • Must be safety minded.
