    Description


    The Network Architect and Technical Lead UN position will report to the Deputy Director, responsible for designing, maintaining, and managing the IT network systems, including LAN, WAN, and Data Center networks.

    The Network Architect and Technical Lead takes business strategy and defines an IT network systems architecture to support that strategy.

    The Network Architect and Technical Lead assists the organization with interpreting, using, and applying the information contained within IT architecture deliverables to inform a range of business improvement activities, particularly those involved in designing, developing, enhancing, implementing, and maintaining network technology platforms.

    The Network Architect and Technical Lead ensures the interoperability and sustainability of the City's technology ecosystem from an infrastructure and network architecture perspective.

    The Network Architect also ensures that all new platforms, systems, applications, and integrations fit within the organization's ecosystem's overall architecture from various perspectives, including but not limited to security, infrastructure, applications, and data systems.

    This is an unclassified, at-will position.

    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university;

    and

    Seven (7) years of experience in Network and Information technology to include experience in:
    Configuring and supporting advanced WAN protocols, including BGP and HDLC
    Designing and implementing Software-Defined Networks in an enterprise environment
    Network Automation tools such as Ansible

    Possession of a currentCisco Certified Network Professional Certification (CCNP), Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE), or Cisco Certified Network Administrator (CCNA).

    Design, implement, test, and prove disaster recovery designs and plans experience preferred.


    ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
    Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License, or the ability to obtain by date of hire.

    Possession of a City Operator's Permit (COP), within 6 months from date of hire.

    Pertinent City, State, Federal, laws, codes, policies and regulations
    General methods and techniques in designing operating and testing redundant network systems.
    Various computer programs, networks, software applications and programming languages related to Network administration and automation.
    Methods and techniques used in maintaining information network systems in a high availability configuration
    Methods and techniques of network application systems and optimizations.
    Principles and practices of customer service
    Methods and techniques used for securing enterprise networks from internal and external threats.
    Recommend network and datacenter roadmaps to meet City security, communications and reliability requirements
    Manage multiple priorities on a regular basis
    Communicate clearly and concisely
    Recommend progressive ideas to expand network and datacenter capabilities, and reliability, while managing costs within restrictive budgets.
    Arrange and schedule projects, ensuring time and resources are allocated effectively and efficiently
    Work independently, and collaboratively in a team platform
    Maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work, and among experts and representatives
    Perform essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation
