    Assured is on a mission to modernize insurance. Claims processing (i.e. should we pay this claim?), while often overlooked, is the foundation of the entire industry. It's currently highly manual, involving phone calls, faxes, and gut instinct—costing tens of billions of dollars a year. We can do better.

    At Assured, we provide large insurers the software solutions they need to win in a modern, technology-driven world. From self-service claim filing software, to backend fraud detection, we're the engine that powers claims processing for some of the largest insurers in the world.

    The challenges we face are deep and diverse—from creating digital experiences that provide comfort and clarity to claimants at their most stressed and vulnerable, to orchestrating large-scale ML-driven decision making on billions of dollars of claims payments, life at Assured is dynamic, collaborative, and rewarding.

    We are looking for a Staff Frontend Engineer to join our growing team.

    You will:

    Own large components of the Assured frontend

    Design new user interface elements and workflows, iterating on concepts and bringing them from early drafts all the way to pixel-perfect production code

    ‍ Write lots of code: Conceptualize, build, test, and ship new products and features for our customers

    Maintain a high bar for quality of frontend experience across the Assured platform, and set the standard for design and interaction polish

    ‍ Take new features from idea to mockup to fully fledged product

    Understand customer feedback and advocate for product direction

    Lead, mentor, and learn from other engineers on our growing team

    Own large components of the Assured frontend

    You have:

    Experience as in modern frontend technologies and shipping product.

    Experience building complex modern web applications

    An eye for thoughtful design–you recognize and care about end user experience

    Not required: Specific technology or programming language background. We are relatively technology-background agnostic. We believe great engineers are great engineers, and that the technologies we use will continue to evolve with team and challenges we face. In Assured's frontend codebase today, you'll find: React (Typescript)

    In your first month at Assured, you may:

    ‍ Design and implement a new interface for collecting a guided series of images of damage to a user's vehicle: work with stakeholders to understand image requirements, conceptualize a novel UI (e.g. guides, auto-detection of vehicle alignment, etc), and finally implement it using modern web technologies

    ‍ Lead a migration to new best-practice techniques for WebGL rendering to enhance interactive experiences

    Improve performance by identifying and optimizing web vitals like Time to First Byte and First Input Delay

    Compensation Range: $180K - $220K
