Duties

This position is assigned to United States Coast Guard Base Miami Beach (BMB) located in Miami, FL. The incumbent serves as the Regional Education Services Officer (ESO) and is responsible for
planning, developing and executing all aspects of the Coast Guard's (CG) nonresident training, correspondence courses, voluntary education programs, college video/audio courses, and Service wide Examinations (SWE).

Being a Coast Guard Civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include:

• Providing professional guidance counseling to all members to aid the client in achieving his/her education goal.
• Providing in-depth counseling and degree plans to the virtual universities endorsed by the USCG Institute.
• Formulating and interpreting degree plans based on the criteria available from the institutions and the USCG Institute.
• Serving as initial processor of admission applications, ensuring acceptance into directed study programs and acting as a direct liaison with directors of the military degree completion program.
• Administering appropriate guidance tests to help members determine their academic area of interest based on the individual skills and aptitudes.
