    Description


    NDFG is seeking an Environmental, Safety and Occupational Health (ESOH) Advisor to provide support to the Principal for Safey/Weapons System Safety Program Integrator for the VIRGINIA Class Submarine Program Office at the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA), Washington Navy Yard, Wahsington, D.C.


    The candidate will:

    Provide technical review of system safety documentation for VIRGINIA Class Submarine reports related to weapons systems safety and ship systems safety.

    Provide technical and administrative support for review of hazard analyses.
    Coordinate actions for hazard closure processing.
    Provide continuing technical review staffing for open joint VIRGINIA Class and COLUMBIA Class safety related commitments.
    Support technical review and assessment of Engineering Reports and Hazard Reports related to weapons system and ship systems safety.
    Coordinate comment resolution, adjudication, and responses to weapons system safety Hazard Closure Forms.
    Review and provide comments and recommendations on system safety analyses.
    Review/prepare data packages for the Weapon System Explosives Safety Review Board (WSESRB)Attend the bi-weekly VIRGINIA Class Safety Council.

    Participate in the VIRGINIA and Columbia Class Process Integration Team (PIT) Meetings and track action items for NAVSEA.Monitor progress of NAVSEA engineering commitments using NAVSEA database management tools.

    Develop updates to Navy Safety documentation to include program safety plans, hazard assessment reports, programmatic safety documentation and NAVSEA correspondence.

    Participate in weekly safety support for the Technical Exchange Meeting (TEM) for the Principal for Safety/Weapons System Safety Integrator.
    Travel approx. 1-2 times per year.


    The candidate also must be able to manage changing priorities and timelines, track program office metrics, maintain configuration management of system safety documentation, as well as draft correspondence and prepare presentations.


    Basic Qualifications:

    Minimum 10 years of professional experience to include managing changing priorities and timelines, tracking program office metrics, drafting correspondence, and preparing presentations.

    Minimum 8 years of experience performing technical functions supporting Navy submarinesMinimum 5 years of client-facing customer service experienceBachelor's or Advanced Degree in a business or technical fieldPossess a secret clearance

    Preferred Qualifications:
    M.S. in Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
    Experience supporting Navy ESOH processes, including weapons system safety and ship systems safetyBoard of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification or equivalentCompleted WSESRB Systems Concept and WSESRB Systems Concept trainingCompleted Naval Ordnance Safety and Security Activity (NOSSA) Web-based Interactive Safety Environment (WISE) Catalog A and B trainingCompleted DAU System Safety in Systems Engineering course
