Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and hands-on Facilities & Maintenance Manager to lead all aspects of equipment maintenance, facility upkeep, and infrastructure management at our manufacturing site in Poway, CA. This role is critical to ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient operations and plays a key part in supporting production by minimizing downtime and driving long-term improvement projects.
Primary Responsibilities
• Plan, coordinate, and supervise preventive and corrective maintenance programs for all equipment and building systems
• Troubleshoot and repair complex issues involving HVAC, electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, mechanical systems, and machinery
• Oversee facility installations and upgrades while ensuring compliance with manufacturer specifications and internal testing protocols
• Manage vendor and contractor relationships, including bidding, contract negotiation, and service quality oversight
• Lead and develop maintenance personnel, including staffing, scheduling, and performance management
• Maintain CMMS and other tracking systems; log work orders, inspections, and repair status
• Inspect facility infrastructure to identify maintenance needs and support capital improvement planning
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, EHS, Affirmative Action/EEO, and company safety policies
• Perform general facility upkeep as needed, including carpentry, drywall, painting, and light electrical or plumbing work
• Monitor utility consumption and recommend cost-saving and energy-efficient solutions
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field
• 7+ years of facility or equipment maintenance experience
• 5+ years in a leadership or supervisory role
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems
• Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
• Familiarity with CMMS and Microsoft Office Suite (Lotus Notes a plus)
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
• Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
• Physical ability to lift heavy materials, climb ladders, and work in industrial environments
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
• Frequent walking, standing, climbing, and stooping in a manufacturing environment
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
• Occasional work at heights or in confined spaces
• Occasional off-shift support for emergencies or scheduled upgrades
