    Job Description

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • The emergency nurse performs accurate and continuous assessment of physical, psychological, and social issues of patients in the emergency care system.
    • The emergency nurse analyzes assessment data to identify nursing diagnoses and potential problems for each patient.
    • The emergency nurse devises a care plan for patients based on assessment data and nursing diagnoses.
    • The emergency nurse implements the care plan based on assessment data and nursing diagnoses, providing education and monitoring patient responses.
    • The emergency nurse evaluates and adjusts the care plan based on patient responses, collaborating with other healthcare providers.
    • The emergency nurse educates patients and their families on illness and injury prevention and treatment, collaborating with other healthcare providers.
    • The emergency nurse collaborates with healthcare providers to deliver patient-centered care efficiently and effectively.
    • The emergency nurse triages patients and determines priority of care based on various needs.
    • The emergency nurse engages in activities that demonstrate professional leadership.
    • The emergency nurse identifies self-learning needs and maximizes professional development.

    Required Qualifications:

    • Graduation from an NLN accredited school of nursing
    • Current registration in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
    • Interpersonal skills in interacting with patients, families, and a multi-disciplinary team
    • Minimum of 3 years of medical-surgical nursing experience (Emergency Department experience preferred)
    • Successful completion of stated competencies
    • ACLS certification
    • Recommended Requirements: Membership in a professional organization, Certification in Emergency Nursing (required after 2 years of employment)
