    Responsibilities


    • Oversee all direct wound care activities to assure practices are consistent
    • Identify, plan, implement, and evaluate skin care in residents
    • Manage and treat specific skin disorders
    • Coordinates weekly skin rounds
    • Perform assessment evaluations using techniques including observation, and inspection
    • Confer with the Care Planning Team in the development of the care plan
    • Provide treatment for skin disorders within established wound care protocol
    • Monitor the use of preventive measures such as inspection, turning and positioning
    • Precept new nurses and demonstrate individual procedures to new nursing personnel
    • Order and tracks the usage of supplies/equipment in prevention and treatment
    • Assist in modifying the treatment regimen to meet the needs of the resident, in accordance with established medical practices, the regulatory guidelines and the policies and goals of this facility
    • Provides information to resident and caregivers on prevention techniques and other ways to maintain or improve the general health and psychosocial status of the resident
    • Participates in Performance Improvement program as assigned such as wound and nutrition committee
    • Participate in the planning and conducting of in-service training classes concerning dermatologic nursing skills and procedures used within the facility
    • Abide by the standards identified in FutureCare's Statement of Corporate Ethics and the Corporate Compliance Plan
    Qualifications


    • Must hold an active LPN or RN license issued in the state of Maryland
    • At least 1 year of nursing experience required
    • Must possess an active certification in wound care
    • Experience with resident's skin care working in a skilled nursing facility preferred
    • Proven leadership skills to assure smooth unit/area operations and quality resident care
    • Effective communication skills to facilitate positive interpersonal interaction
    • Ability to interact with others in a considerate, helpful, and courteous manner
